Postdoc Position Genetic Susceptibility of the Host to Bacterial and Viral Infections, Helmholtz Centre

The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Germany, invites application for a postdoctoral position. The aim of the project will be to study the genetic susceptibility of the host to bacterial (M. tuberculosis) and viral (Influenza A) infections. Different mouse inbred, recombinant inbred, congenic and mutant strains will be used as a model system. The pathology, immune response and genetic factors of host susceptibility will be analyzed.
Qualifications
Candidates who hold the equivalent of a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry or Life Sciences are welcome to apply. Previous experience with animal work, bacterial or viral pathogens, or mouse genetics will be considered as an important asset. Strong motivation, ability to work as part of an international team and excellent communication skills in English are also required.
Qualified applicants with a disability will be given preference. The project will start immediately with initial contract for 1 year, with the possibility for extension.
