The School of Arts and Social Sciences at Northumbria University is offering a number of full-time PhD studentships to commence in October 2012. The division of Linguistics and English Language in the Department of Humanities is inviting applications from applicants who have a broad interest in cognitive linguistics and/or discourse analysis. Applications are welcome from students interested in empirical approaches (including both corpus and experimental methods) and the study of spoken language.

- A bursary of £13,590 per annum for three years (full time);
- Access to funds to support research expenses (conferences or archive visits).
