Posted by: admin In: Statistics

The Institute for Mathematical Stochastic at the Georg-August-University Göttingen is offering a full-time PhD position (salary is based on the German TV-L system, level 13) within the DFG-funded project of German-Swiss Research Group “Statistical Regularisation and Qualitative Constraints”.

The position within the sub-project B5 “Partial least squares for serially dependent data” starts on April 1st, 2011 – subject to final approval by the DFG – and will be available for three years.

The project deals with the asymptotic properties of partial least squares method and its application to protein dynamics modelling in co-operation with the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. Partial least squares is a statistical regularisation method that is closely related to particular numerical mathematics techniques. Therefore, successful candidates should have a strong background in mathematical statistics and/or numerical mathematics.
